In my past life, I made a pretty good living taking care of other people's kids. Even though I've have never been a parent, I feel like I know what I'm doing when it comes to child care. I have ventured across the state with someones kids, stayed with them over night, taken them on public transportation, called 911 when one of them had an allergic reaction, etc. However, I had no idea that the experience would be so much different with a little one who is related to me! It was like a whole new set of responsibilities!
Cari and Ricky came to Dallas a few weeks ago to celebrate their anniversary, and baby Mase stayed with me so his mom and dad could get some R&R.
The last time he was here, he was 3 months old. I don't think he remembered it.
After his mom and dad left, he had a quick snack and I was very impressed at his bottle-holding skills. This was new to me. Of course I took iphone pics and sent them to Cari and Ricky because they were missing their baby like crazy!
The weather was a little treacherous, but when it started to snow I took Mase outside to check it out. He has already been to Chicago and Ohio and seen his share of snow, but it's totally different when it happens in Texas. Too bad you can't see it in the picture, but it's really there!!
We had lots of fun play time together:
Mase slept like a champ, but my sleep was a different story. I kept looking at the video monitor, making sure he was still breathing. And every time he rolled over I had to check it again - seriously neurotic, I know.
The next morning we had some play time in my room before we got ready for the day.
We played a lot more, got dressed and went to meet Mom and Dad at Breadwinner's for brunch and they were SO ready to see their baby again!

Mase told me you did a great job & he'll come back & do it again anytime!!!
I don't have a nickname yet, but we'll see what happens when M starts talking! Wynne, you were totally one of those kids, but you were so much easier than a baby. Even when you (we) were breaking the rules!!
