For the "real" part of Spring Break, I flew to sunny LA to visit my friend Ashley - she's lived there for over a year and this is the first time I've been able to go see her there! Another friend of ours, Katie, flew from Austin and we both landed on the west coast about the same time. Our first stop - a taping of American Idol!

I have to be honest, I've never watched an episode of this show, but it was so much fun to be on the set and see all the "behind the scenes" work that goes into the show. We had to check our cameras and cell phones before we went onto the set, but I snapped a quick pick of Katie right before. Here she is in front of the studio where they film Dancing with the Stars:
Dancing with the Stars didn't start until the next week, so we missed out on seeing the "stars" this trip!

After the taping, we walked to The Grove - a gorgeous outdoor shopping center.
We went in and out of almost every store (and there were lots!) and enjoyed the amazing California weather!
Since we were on vacation, we decided to take a break and see a movie - one of our favorite things to do!
